Aim of the Course
The Certificate in Network Management (Level 6) will enable students to study for and gain an internationally recognised certification generally accepted as the desired requirements for progression in the IT industry: that of Cisco CCNA
Students who complete this certificate and related external exam(s) are equipped for careers as network administrators supporting Cisco networks in small to medium sized businesses.
Students will also be equipped to proceed with higher level studies if they choose. These could include a degree programme or ITTI's Diploma in Computer Network Management (Level 6).
Course Content
- Understanding Cisco hardware devices, media and architectures
- Implementation and configuring of network protocols
- Understanding network security
- Network communication and routing
- Configuring sub-networked systems
Outcome
Cisco Certified Entry Network Technician certification (CCENT) and/or Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA).
Graduates of this certificate are able to install, configure and support Cisco networks in small to medium sized businesses.
Cisco's CCENT and CCNA internationally recognised certifications are a good indicator of proficiency and competency and can be considered a standard for potential employees. By undertaking this course and gaining the examinsations students' skills are internationally validated and benchmarked.
Duration
12 weeks full time:
Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Monday - Friday 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm (when available)
Entry Requirements
- Certificate in Computer Networking (Level 5),
or CompTIA A+ and Network+ certifications,
or equivalent qualifications or suitable industry experience or satisfactory performance in pre-enrolment knowledge test
- Access to personal computer for off-campus learning (desirable)
- IELTS overall band score of 6.0 (international students), with no band less than 6.0
- An appropriate NZIS Student Permit to study at ITTI (international students)
Employment Opportunities
This qualification, with the corresponding Cisco CCENT or CCNA certification, is internationally recognised and leads the student into roles as Network Administrators in small and medium sized businesses operating a Cisco network.
