Aim of the Course

To enable students to study for and gain an internationally recognised certification, CompTIA Network+.

Students who complete this certificate and related external exam are equipped for careers as PC technicians and Help Desk analysts and network service administrators.

Students may alternatively proceed with higher level studies, including the Diploma in Computer Support: Service and Networks (Level 5)

Course Content

• Implementing and configuring network protocols
• Understanding network security
• Demonstrating knowledge of network communication and routing
• Providing professional customer support
• Preparing reports and proposals
• Making formal presentations

Outcome

Students who complete the certificate will obtain the learning outcomes:

• Experience in wokring with different teams of people
• Communication, problem solving and customer relationship development
• The ability to identify and advise on business IT requirements
• Employability skills which today's employers require

CompTIA's Network+ is an international certification that proves competence in areas such as installation, configuration, networking, security and troubleshooting. The IT industry acknowledges that internationally recognised certifications are a good indicator of proficiency and competency and can be considered a standard for potential employees. By undertaking this course and gaining the examination students' skills are validated and benchmarked.

Duration

12 weeks full time:
Monday - Friday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
Monday - Friday 2:00 pm - 6:00pm (when available)

Entry Requirements

1. Certificate in Computer Servicing (Level 5),
   or equivalent qualifications or suitable industry experience or satisfactory performance in pre-enrolment knowledge test.
2. Access to personal computer for off-campus learning (desirable)
3. IELTS overall band score of 5.5 (international students), with no band less than 5.5
4. An appropriate NZIS Student Permit to study at ITTI (international students)

Employment Opportunities

This qualification, with the corresponding CompTIA Network+ certificiation is internationally recognised and paves the way to a career as a Help Desk Technician, Network Service Technician or Network Administrator in small to medium businesses.
